Pictures from Thanksgiving

Well, here are the pictures! Emma making breakfast the morning after Thanksgiving, Jason and Emma for their day at Breckenridge, Luke - does this picture really need an explanation?!?!
And of course our 3-D beer pyramid glistening in the sun, and a mediocre photo that Luke took of me and Jason!

Thanksgiving Trip 08

Well, the Thanksgiving trip was great. It was one big circle - literally. We started off the drive at about 5am - well, really it was at about 4:30, but then we had to turn around and go home because we forgot a package to bring out to Emma. Once we got on the road, it was smooth sailing all the way to Wyoming. Who knew that there was an additional 100 miles of Nebraska above the CO border?!?!?! Oh well, it was a long drive out, but was a breeze compared to the rest of the driving! We got in to Cheyenne and stayed at Emma and Luke's cute apartment. We went out that night and I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. After a fabulous and much needed nights' sleep, we had donuts for breakfast, lounged in our jammies and then had Thanksgiving "dinner". Really it was lunch. We drove up to the mountains to find very little snow, if any on the ground. That night we played Scrabble - which I must add in that Emma and I rocked at! Friday poor Luke had to wake to 2-3 inches of snow and had to drive back to Cheyenne for work only to turn around and drive right back up. Emma and Jason enjoyed a nice snowy day on the mountain - and I was a lazy bum, and loved every minute of it! I cleaned the house up a bit, did some shopping, and watched party of the Tori Spelling reality show on Oxygen. Ahhhhh - so nice.
It had been snowing and blowing throughout the day and when we got back to the house it really started to come down. Ang and Donovan came up from Denver which was awesome. We hung out, ate some delicious Halibut from Alaska and then played Battle of the Sexes. The guys were definitely NOT fans of this game. All I have to say about that is, maybe they shouldn't hang out with such intelligent women if they want to win games!!!! he he.
Saturday was a sad morning. Ang and Donovan left, Emma and Luke left, and then we left. We were the first to go up the mountain though because the others were going snoboarding/skiing. 70 was awful going up to the tunnel. Traffic was slow and then stopped and then slow. Here I am in my Saturn (at least with front wheel drive) being cut off by stupid idiots in SUV's who don't seem to realize that if I keep stopping because of them - I might not get going again! Well, that is exactly what happened. I got stuck because some a-hole was weaving around cars (yep, at 10 mph - what a jack-ass) and I had to come to a complete stop. As I am stopped and tires spinning (with tail end fish-tailing back and forth) some idiot passes by me (in an SUV of course) and honks at me - LIKE I COULD DO ANYTHING!!!! So I flipped him the finger and yelled obsenities out of Jason conveniently open window. They had traffic assistance trucks up there towing and pushing so one guy was backing up so he could help me and yet another car (not SUV this time) tries to get in between him and me - another genius! The truck pulled up behind me finally and pushed me up the hill until I could get over in the left lane where there was pavement showing. Minor scratches on the bumper which are worth now! We got down the mountain fine though. The wind was coming right at the drivers side all the way to Colby KS.
Once we got to KS, we had a nice time at my cousin's reception. Very KS, but very nice - chicken dance and hokey-pokey and all!
The next morning the wind was no better but we started out at a leisurly 9am figuring we'd get back around 7 or 8, right? WRONG! Everyone said it was a 10 hour drive. It's not, it's more like an 11 or 12 hour drive - then you add an ice storm west of Des Moines and a snow storm north of it and that equals out to about a 15 hour drive! We did get home to a very snuggly and mellow puppy though - we missed our Massey!
I will add pics later because I still haven't charged the camera, although I don't know if we got many - too much fun to catch.
Now I'm on my 2nd day back at work and all that running around caught up with me. I'm sleepy and want to nap. Work is boring - hence the extremely long blog entry.
I do have a project to work on though, but I only have from 11-1 to do it because I have to be in a certain meeting room to type up the notes/spreadsheet from a meeting they had in there yesterday.
Well - I'll try and get the pictures on there soon!
