How to NOT be productive...

I think I could pretty much give a seminar on what to do at work...when you have no work to do.
First, make sure that you've exhausted all of your resources to make sure that there are no projects you can be working on. This may sound stupid at first seeing as how I'm about to tell you what to do other than work...however, at some point you will begin wondering "seriously, I'm starting to feel bad, isn't there anything I can be doing???" Just nip this one in the bud and make sure people know you are available so that if something does come up - you can have some credibility for doing other than what is to follow.
It is best to attempt being non-productive with your work when you have other stuff going on in your life, such as in my case - a wedding in the future. Other topics may be throwing a party for a holiday or Birthday, being pregnant, buying a new car or house, remodeling, etc... If you have nothing to plan for in your future - you might as well use this time to look for a new job. Please remember to minimize your windows and scroll so that the title of the career search website (i.e. Career Builder, Monster, Yahoo Jobs, or like this window: Blogger) is not blaring so that everyone that walks by can fully see that you are most definitely not working - at all, not even a little bit!
Don't underestimate the minimizing window thing - it is imperative with whatever you are doing at work if it is not work.
Here's what I did today: I printed out my guest list, made a key with 30 different symbols and sorted the guests in to groups (my family, his family, head table, friends, friends I don't care if they sit near or far from me, etc...) [He he on that last one!] I then went back in to the spreadsheet (which are easily camouflaged, just scroll down if you have a header on the top line - everyone will think you have a really complex spreadsheet going on) and cut and pasted names in to the groups. I then numbered paper 1-10 and made copies so I could start arranging names for table assignments - do this in pencil, you will change it a million times.

I'm going to stop the lesson there, I feel like I should insert a note like "thanks for reading this excerpt from my seminar/book, please click here to go to my website where you can purchase the rest...". I think by now you get the point that it is 11:23 a.m. and I have yet to do anything related to work today.

Oh, and I also researched all-inclusive honeymoons earlier too.

Please still keep your fingers crossed for Miracle Ear to call me ---- SOON!!!!

Day 2!

So, I still haven't heard from the lady that I want to meet with about this new marketing position - I'll keep updating that...can you tell I'm a little anxious about it?!?!

I showed Jason my 3-ring binder last night and totally forgot to cover the picture of my dress!!!!! He said he didn't see anything, but I'm pretty sure he did. Oh well, he won't remember it - I can barely remember it and it is my dress! He was very gracious in acting interested in the binder - and then the neighbor boy came over with the business card of the stump grinder his dad used and Jason was way more interested in that! Oh well, I guess it's a girl thing. I actually am pretty darn proud of that thing, now I can just put everything in there instead of having folders here and stacks there...

We meet with the DJ tonight so that will be fun - we have all sorts of fun stuff to go on through the night. I think my Dad will be pleasantly surprised with all the festivities. If you didn't know, he's "mad" at me (as if my Dad could really be mad...at me) for putting my wedding right in the middle of his spring break ski trip. Yeah, because your youngest and last daughter to get married is a horrible reason to not ski for 3 days.

I'm going to upload a few videos and pictures to update on stuff I couldn't send before (Emma and Angela, I'm pretty sure you're the only two that know of this blog so... enjoy!).

Here is Jason with 2 snow geese from his trip up in Saskatchewan (Yup, the Regina place Ang).

And a video of the thousands of geese

Here are some pics and videos from up at the cabin over Memorial Day. Ya gotta love my soon-to-be nephews. They are so cute!

Here is Henry - or Henwy as he says with a bass from the "big dock"

And Uncle Jason with Albert!!!

Oliver with is awesome Birthday cake that Donna made... it's the cabin and that is Brian fishing off the dock (apparently Brian is GI Joe)

Henry and Lucy sleeping and then all 3 boys - they just don't get any cuter than this! Henry actually lost a tooth this day so he was waiting for the tooth fairy!

And a little video for Auntie Emma and Uncle Luke!

1st post

Alright, I decided to jump on the bandwagon - inspired by Emma!

Well, here I write my first blog ever.

So, I just got this job like a month ago (actually almost 5 weeks ago now) and I have never been more bored in my life.

I actually do nothing - well, nothing work related. Today I printed a few large documents off and then I... well, I made a three ring binder for my wedding stuff. I filled almost all of my 14 tabs with things like, pictures of updos that I like, flowers that I like, I laid out pictures of all of my bridesmaid dresses next to my dress (yep, I printed them, cut them out and taped them to a piece of paper and put them in a protective sleeve...), created a mock floor-plan with table numbers and everything, printed out my registries... needless to say - I have to get out of here!!!!

My hope is that the lady from my prospective job calls soon. Word to the wise, when you are told your position is being dissolved, PLEASE don't underestimate what your abilities are and accept the first admin position that comes along! This is a great place to work - if you have work to do.

As far as the wedding binder - I'm actually quite proud of that. I have everything organized so that when the chaos of ski season approaches (and not to jinx myself) but the possibility of [another] job change comes along - I will be ready to go for whatever wedding plans need to be taken care of!

Now - for the name of this blog. Cavanaugh will be my new last name. I'm so excited to have that name, not just for the name, but for the family it comes with. I love my family, don't get me wrong, but to be both a Jensen & and Cavanaugh - I don't know if it gets any better than that!

Well - here's to my first post. I'll write more tomorrow...seeing as how I'll probably still have nothing to do!

I just keep thinking - March 28th, March 28th, March 28th - then I'll have my first post as Mrs. Cavanaugh!
